Ageing Well

DSC_0919.jpg

I am passionate about ‘wellness’ and ‘healthy ageing’ with a high quality of ‘health span’ not just a ‘life span’. I have watched elders before me, live long lives but in a very unwell state. This is not something I want for myself, husband, friends, children or clients. I want a higher enjoyable and productive quality of life span than previous generations have expected or tolerated.

Why am I focusing on the over 55+ age range?

  • Often menopause is done and dusted - which can be journeyed symptom free. Have a look at my Women’s Wellness – Menopause page if you would like to learn how I went through menopause easily with very little problems - I’d love to share what I did with you.

  • Most people over the age of 55 are on one or more medications for chronic health issues.

Chronic diseases include:

  • Arthritis

  • Autoimmune diseases

  • Cancer

  • Chronic pain

  • Dementia/Alzheimer disease - did you know that women are at double the risk of Alzheimer’s compared to men?

  • Hypertension – high blood pressure, Cardiovascular diseases

  • Metabolic Syndrome – Insulin Resistance (prediabetes)

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Respiratory diseases

  • Type 2 Diabetes

You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.

The problem is you think you have time.

Wellness and healthy ageing is a balancing act. It’s about bringing together all the elements of your life into harmony. Sometimes we need to add a little more of ‘this’ or remove a little more of ‘that’ to bring us into balance. Ageing well (and living well) incorporates many factors.

To optimise health and longevity you must consider exercise, diet, relaxation, social activities, personal connections, mental stimulation and spirituality.

You are never too old
to set another goal or
to dream a new dream.
— C.S. Lewis

I can offer the holistic medicine of herbs and practitioner only supplements, which with diet and lifestyle are all preventative medicine embracing the notion of increasing not only the best possible length of life, but also staying healthy and active for as long as possible, and being free of chronic illnesses and cognitive decline. It is important to be in the best state of health possible as you age, and if you do need to resort to any pharmaceutical medication or an operation, then your body may heal better.
